SOTW, Latest Tutorials
News and Updates
Happy New Year!-ish
Hope everyone's holidays were great this year! And yes, I know I'm late on the New Year wishes. And yes, I know I'm late on updating the site. But, that's not the point! We're starting off this years on a good note. And that good note just happens to include two new Photoshop tutorials provided by the magnanimous Smash Lord (how's that for an intro?), as well as an update for all the phpBB3 styles as phpBB 3.0.4 has been released. Upgrading is very much encouraged. Anything else? Well, a new SOTW has recently begun - we've already got some quality entries, and I look forward to seeing what else people can come up with.
Anyway, that's all for this update. Here's to another year of randomness here at the family known as Gamexe.net.
Cheers.

New tutorials and staff!
I'm happy to welcome the addition of a few new members to the Gamexe.net team. This list includes Asphyxia, Misery, M@ster and Ethan Roy. Each of these great members have also already contributed a tutorial to the site, and I'd highly recommend checking them out.
With the help of active staff, I hope to see Gamexe.net grow a lot more in the months to come. And be sure to check back frequently because a lot more content can be expected.

New tutorials, staff, and more!
Well, as many have already seen, v.6 is pretty much fully functional. All the tutorials are once again visible, and redirects are set in place so updating bookmarks shouldn't be too much of a pain.
In addition to this, two new tutorials by Arkane have been created! That's right, Gamexe.net is finally going to start dishing out some new content and tutorials your way, and you can all expect the creation of a new tutorial section for Gimp, as well as one for Game Development.

With this new wave of content that's to be expected, Gamexe.net is now once again actively recruiting staff members for tutorial writing. It can be on just about anything, so don't feel constrained to the categories displayed in the left navigation. So, if you have any experience with programming, css, photoshop, gimp, multimedia fusion, rpg maker, game development in general, or anything else in which you feel may be appropriate for this site, then we'll gladly welcome you to the team. Interested? Sign up on the forums and send a pm to Daniel St. Jules.
Oh, and I can't forget, a new SOTW has been started. This one's theme is Robot(s). You can check it out at: http://www.gamexe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1327
Well, that's all for today. Be sure to check back soon.

Gamexe v6 update underway
As many have already noticed, Gamexe.net is currently being updated to version 6. This will be a slower than usual progression, and will take up to two days to fully complete. As a note, the tutorials are temporarily unavailable, but will be back up once the update has finished.
Once again, the main site's general purpose is changing. Although we still intend to offer gaming discussion on the community forums, the main site has been rid of all gaming content. Now, the sole relation to gaming that the main site will have will consist of game development, including flash action script programming, as well as some basic introductions to some game engines.
That's all for now. Expect another post soon when the update is complete, outlining some new things to look forward to.

phpBBHacks.com Idol: Round 1!
For those who didn't know, two of my phpBB3 styles, twilightBB and DarkFantasy, had been selected to participate in phpBBHacks Idol, a sort of tournament style competition for mod and style authors of the popular forum software. The first voting round has now begin, and with over $1,200 in prizes to win for each category, including a choice between 6 major items from W3 Markup (go xbox 360!, I need to get myself one of those), I'm quite excited to see how the competition will roll out.

I would highly suggest registering and voting for your favourite styles and hacks: there's some great entries to chose from, and with some activity in the polls, this should make for a nice tournament. So, what are you waiting for, Click Here to visit the round 1 thread and start voting on your favourites!

twilightBB!

Alright, this is the last style for the week - I swear. =P
Anyway, check out the latest available phpBB3 style titled twilightBB by going to its topic on the forums:
http://gamexe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?s ... f=1&t=1257
Also, I'm going away for a bit, so no more updates should be expected for the next 3-4 days. In the meantime, the moderators will be able to keep the forums in order. And when I get back, I plan on updating the Signature Generator on TheBrawl.Net with new sigs, as per request, and also getting back to support requests for the phpBB3 styles.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Cheers.

610nm for phpBB3

That's right, yet another phpBB3 style has been released to the public. This one is a bit different than past creations featured on Gamexe.net in terms of style, but hopefully some will enjoy it. You can preview as well as download it at the following location:
http://gamexe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?s ... f=1&t=1241
The style can also be selected on the forums by going to the User Control Panel.
Oh, and cookie to whoever figures out the reason for the name.

Quick update
Yeap, it's been a while, so I figured I'd post and give everyone a brief update. First of all, TheBrawl.Net, a partner site of Gamexe.net, has been growing strong and becoming more and more popular by the day. Along with its signature generator and free ressources, it's a site that any brawl fan will want to visit.
Also, the forums have been updated to phpBB 3.0.1, and along with that, GuildWarsAlliance version 2.0.2 has been released to the public for download. For those who have been wondering, I do plan on releasing more styles in the near future, and a couple original ones are already in the works. I also plan on going through some different MODs that spark my interest for phpBB 3, and as a result, some changes may be seen on the forums overtime.
Well, that's it. I'll keep you posted.

Gamexe.net is back, phpBB3, and more
Yeap, after 4 days of downtime (I counted every minute), Gamexe.net and all sites hosted under it are finally back! What exactly happened? Well, we went through a few misunderstandings with our hosting company, but everything's been settled and we're now running on some fancy VPS hardware.
After being brought back to life, however, I couldn't just leave the site and forums as is. Nope, after finally making the full switch to PHP5, I decided to upgrade the forums to phpBB3. I have to say, it's a lot more complex than I had first thought, and it's going to be an interesting experience MODing and creating new styles for it. As a note, GuildWarsAlliance is the only phpBB3 style currently available on the forums, but I intend to bring back SmoothTech and create a few others soon enough.
So, what else is going on? Well, TheBrawl.Net is currently looking for signature designers to assist with their Super Smash Bros. Brawl Signature Generator. If you'd like to help out, then please visit the following topic: http://www.gamexe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1098.
Also, I'd just like to remind everyone to put in their votes for the latest SOTW, which can be found at http://www.gamexe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1055. We've gotten quite a few great entries this time around, and so I think it'll be a close one.
Anyway, that's all for now. If you aren't satisfied with the update, then have a cookie, on the house.
Cheers.
